UIDAI allows people with Aadhaar cardsto change their address and without the need of documents. Aadhaar cardholders were permitted to modify their address, but only if they could not prove ID proof.

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily stopped a crucial facility that allows you to change the address of your Aadhaar card's address with no certificate of address.

UIDAI permits cardholders with Aadhaar cards to change their address, without any form of documentation. Aadhaar card holders can update their address, if they accept the authorization to the identity verifier. An address verifier could be a friend, relative, landlord or family member who will permit the Aadhaar card user to utilize their address as proof.

UIDAI has now halted this facility. UIDAI has responded to an Aadhaar Card owner by tweeting that updating address on Aadhaar Card through the Address Validation Letter has been halted. UIDAI has requested that the Aadhaar issuer to advise users that they have the option to update their address with another legitimate PoA document.

Dear Resident Dear Resident: The addresses Validation Letter service has been taken off until the next notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
